45 minutes away from San Miguel is the beautiful city of Dolores Hidalgo, place where Miguel Hidalgo proclaimed Mexico’s independence the night 15th of September 1810. 

Father Hidalgo have the “Cry for independence” which began the uprising against the Spanish. 

Thus, the city of Dolores Hidalgo became known as “The cradle of National Independence”.  Father Hidalgo also helped develop the local industries and craftsmen, such as ceramics, carpentry, textiles, iron doors and balconies. He also began the planting of mulberry trees and vineyards as well as trained farmers. 

His promoting social and economic development in the community resulted in strong local support for the Mexican independence movement.

We’ll visit famous Talavera workshops and enjoy the tradicional wild flavored ice cream like, Tequila, beer, rice, chesse, mamey, cactus, shrimp, avocado, etc.
